Georgia child support at a glance
- Guideline model: Income shares
- Income used: Each parent's monthly gross income, with set adjustments (Georgia Child Support Commission).
- High incomes: Parents with combined adjusted gross income above $40,000 a month are high-income; the obligation is set at the table's highest amount and an upward deviation may be considered (O.C.G.A. §19-6-15(i)).
- Shared parenting time: Since January 1, 2026, a mandatory Parenting Time Adjustment replaces the former discretionary parenting time deviation. It is a formula based on court-ordered parenting days (O.C.G.A. §19-6-15(g)).
- When support ends: At 18; a court may extend support for a child in secondary school, but not after age 20 (§19-6-15(e)).
